Norman Mailer takes his leave of this world
Sunday, November 11, 2007

Mailer1.jpgUNITED STATES. Unlike the obituaries of the Rev Chad Varah (see above) and the Rev Dr Martin Israel (below), which referred to their belief in reincarnation, the tributes to American literary giant Norman Mailer – who died of kidney failure, aged 84, on 10 November – ignored his acceptance of rebirth.

Yet, as we have already reported, two members of the family involved are now claiming to be suing over the account. But the author and surviving investigator stand by their story. Rev Dr Martin Israel, Britain’s most influential medium?
Sunday, November 11, 2007

MartinIsrael_3.jpgENGLAND. The death, on 23 October, of the Rev Dr Martin Israel, 80, has robbed us of a man many regarded as Britain’s most influential medium. That is certainly the view of Leslie Price, founder of PsyPioneer Newsletter, who gives us the following account of the enormous contribution made by the pioneering Anglican priest. Read More

British mediums help find missing soldier’s remains
Sunday, November 11, 2007

blake_header_crop.jpgFRANCE. Soon after her soldier son Blake Hartley went missing in France three years ago, Sally Perrin’s attempts to find him led her to two British mediums, Gordon Smith and Dennis Mackenzie. She hoped they would tell her that he was alive and maybe, for whatever reason, had defected and was living happily in Spain or Italy. But both confirmed, independently, that Blake was dead and his body was in a river. The evidence was specific enough for Sally and her husband, Blake’s stepfather, to focus their search on a particular stretch of a river that ran close to where he and other soldiers had camped. A bone eventually recovered from debris close to the spot indicated by the mediums has been confirmed by DNA to be Blake’s. Read More

Devil returns to haunt demonic authors
Sunday, November 11, 2007

LorraineEdWarren.jpgUNITED STATES. Just weeks after being named America’s top ghost hunter – along with her husband Ed who died in August 2006 – Lorraine Warren is facing a major lawsuit. It concerns the reprinting of The Devil in Connecticut by Gerald Brittle, about an alleged case of “demonic possession”. Often cited as more frightening than the Amityville possession case, also investigated by the Warrens, the main subjects now claim it was not a case of possession at all but of mental illness. Read More

Sunday, November 11, 2007

Mailer1.jpgUNITED STATES. American literary giant Norman Mailer, now 84, has expanded further on his belief in reincarnation – a subject already covered in these columns.
