Ghosts of Katrina

NEW ORLEANS, UNITED STATES. Coping with the recovery of bodies and assisting seriously ill and injured people was tough enough for the soldiers sent to New Orleans soon after Hurricane Katrina struck. But some of them also had to contend with the paranormal.

Speaking from a children’s school that had been evacuated and was being used by the military, California National Guard Sgt Robin Hairston, told CBS5’s “Eye Witness News”:

“Then, in my sleeping bag, I opened my eyes and in the doorway was a little girl. It wasn’t my imagination.”

The TV news report said some military men and women swear they have seen, heard and found things that have made many a seasoned soldier a believer.

Another California National Guard, Spc. Rosales Leanor, testified: “I was in the restroom and I just saw this little shadow kind of moving in front of me.”

And an unnamed female soldier reported: “I was standing in [the supply closet] getting cleaning supplies and there was a little girl laughing.” That particular location was said to be really spooky.

Open bibles had been found at two locations – one in front of the altar of a church that had blown down. In both cases they were open at Revelations 10 and 11, which refers to a city being washed away in three days and bodies floating in water on the streets.

A military pastor (pictured right) was seen moving from room to room commanding Satan to leave.

“This is indeed a dark city, and we’re bringing the light,” he said, adding: “You know, wherever soldiers go, there goes the will of God.”
