Norman Mailer takes his leave of this world

Mailer1.jpgUNITED STATES. Unlike the obituaries of the Rev Chad Varah (see above) and the Rev Dr Martin Israel (below), which referred to their belief in reincarnation, the tributes to American literary giant Norman Mailer – who died of kidney failure, aged 84, on 10 November – ignored his acceptance of rebirth.

Mailer, an outspoken two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, best known for The Naked and The Dead, The Armies of the Night, Advertisements for Myself and The Executioner’s Song.

AncientEvenings.jpg He made reincarnation the theme of Ancient Evenings, a historical novel about the Egyptians which took him 12 years to write.

More recently, as reported on www.ParanormalReview.com less than a month ago, in his new book On God, which takes the form of a dialogue between Mailer and one of his literary executors, Michael Lennon, he explains why after eight decades he feels that only reincarnation provides answers to many of the questions that we ask about the nature of life, death and the soul’s immortality.
