Former Defence Minister believes in UFOs

CANADA. Right now, Canada seems to be a hotbed of speculation about UFOs. First came the revelation in November 2005 that Paul Hellyer, Canada’s Defence Minister from 1963-67 and Deputy Prime Minister under Pierre Trudeau, was asking the Canadian Parliament to hold public hearings on extraterrestrials (ETs).
Then at a conference in Montreal, in May, Australian counsellor and hypnotherapist Mary Rodwell presented some of her findings from 10 years of research with over 1,000 “experiencers” (alien abductees).
Paul Hellyer had surprised many people a year ago when, during a speech at a UFO conference held at the University of Toronto, he told his audience: “UFOs are as real as the airplanes that fly over your head,” adding: “”I’m so concerned about what the consequences might be of starting an intergalactic war, that I just think I had to say something.”
The conference, titled “Exopolitics Toronto – A Symposium on UFO Disclosure and Planetary Directions”, called for full disclosure about UFOs from the Canadian Government. Exopolitics is the new buzzword in UFO circles which embraces the belief that there has been regular communication between our civilisation and aliens and that we are being prepared for this revelation to be made public.
Three non-Governmental organisations – Toronto Exopolitics Symposium, The Disclosure Project and Cooperation in Space – joined forces with Hellyer to ask Parliament to hold public hearings on the subject.
"Now is the time for open disclosure that there are ethical extraterrestrial civilisations visiting earth," said their spokesperson.
Hellyer, who had been both a Liberal and a Tory before founding two political parties of his own, revealed, “The secrecy involved in all matters pertaining to the Roswell incident was unparalleled. The classification was, from the outset, above top secret, so the vast majority of U.S. officials and politicians, let alone a mere allied minister of defence, were never in-the-loop.”
And he warned, “The United States military are preparing weapons which could be used against the aliens, and they could get us into an intergalactic war without us ever having any warning… The Bush administration has finally agreed to let the military build a forward base on the moon, which will put them in a better position to keep track of the goings and comings of the visitors from space, and to shoot at them, if they so decide.”
He concluded by saying: “The time has come to lift the veil of secrecy and let the truth emerge, so there can be a real and informed debate, about one of the most important problems facing our planet today” – a sentiment that was greeted by a standing ovation.
Mary Rodwell was addressing a very different audience: the International Institute of Integral Human Sciences (IIIHS) conference in Montreal. A non-profit organisation affiliated to the United Nationals, serving over 10,000 general members and students, IIIHS assists the convergence of new sciences with spirituality and universal human values with the aim of creating inter-religious and inter-cultural understanding for world peace.
Mary Rodwell, co-founder of the Australian Close Encounters Resource Network, was one of 60 speakers at the conference. She revealed her findings based on working with “experiencers” from the UK, North America, Europe, Russia, Japan and South America, as well as her native Australia.
Also speaking at the IIIHS conference was Dr Janet Colli, author of “Sacred Encounters – Spiritual Awakenings During Close Encounters”.
