Geller's X-Files meets the X-Factor

Geller1web.jpgISRAEL.  Uri Geller, whose metal-bending, clock stopping and apparent telepathic abilities have been mystifying the world for four decades, has announced that he’s looking for a paranormal protege. And he plans to do it with a reality television series.

Keshet, a franchise of Israel’s Channel Two, has confirmed on its website that the show is being produced, but has declined to give details at this stage.

Geller, however, has been more forthcoming. He has told Reuters news agency that the programme will feature 10 contestants hoping to become his “heir” and win a prize that would be “huge”.

“The format will be something like ‘American Idol’,” he explained. “We will keep the performances that are most riveting and amazing.” He said viewers with “intuitive” powers would also be invited to call in and compete.

"The Heir" sounds more like X-Files meets X-Factor. However, the most puzzling quote from Geller was:

“This is not a show where people have to prove to me that they are for real. I just want to be amazed.”

We assume he won't be inviting James Randi on as a judge!
